YVMIN Microbrand - Prosthetic Design
A new product and packaging design for the Chinese jewelry brand YVMIN that extends its previous collaborations while reinforcing and emphasizing the brand’s core identity.
A new product and packaging design for the Chinese jewelry brand YVMIN that extends its previous collaborations while reinforcing and emphasizing the brand’s core identity.

This project explores a new product and packaging direction for YVMIN inspired by the concept of prosthetics as adornment. Rather than viewing prosthetics purely as medical devices, the project reframes them as expressive body extensions—objects that enhance identity, emotion, and self-presentation.
YVMIN is known for its experimental and futuristic aesthetic. Building on that language, this project proposes jewelry pieces that mimic the visual and structural qualities of prosthetic forms—curved supports, joint-like connections, translucent materials, and mechanical detailing—transforming functional references into sculptural fashion statements.

YVMIN (尤目) is a Chinese brand that unveils the artistic and romantic character of modern jewelry. It uses untraditional materials and experimental ways to create their products. YVMIN has always considered itself as a body-decoration lab rather than a fashion brand, to explore every connection between body and beauty.
YVMIN also uses 3D scanning and printing technique in their production to create customized products. It once collaborated with an Instagram influencer, Xiao Yang, to create a series of prosthetics for her. In Vogue's interview, Yang said "it is only natural to decorate any part of our body, prosthetic as well.” She also wants to tell everyone that wearing a prosthesis is a fact that cannot be changed, but wearing a prosthesis that looks gorgeous is also achievable.

Getting the inspiration from YVMIN and Xiao Yang's collaboration, I want to create a new product line that produces accessories with the function of prosthetic, turning the medical equipments into daily fashion icons.

The extension product I developed is a wrist protector designed to stabilize and support the user’s wrist, helping prevent further strain or injury. At the same time, it reinterprets the form of a prosthetic through a polished chrome finish and integrated decorative elements, transforming a protective device into a bold fashion accessory.
By combining structural support with sculptural aesthetics, the piece exists between function and adornment—serving as both a protective tool and a statement of identity.

The sharp, pointed edges of the letters in the brand's logo serve as the inspiration for the packaging design, reflecting this distinctive feature in its overall shape and form.

The overall design is especially suited for an in-store experience, accompanied by a custom-designed shopping bag that reflects the same materials and color palette as the secondary packaging, creating a cohesive and immersive brand presentation.
